AHSB EDUCATION PARADIGM

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

At Auckland House School for Boys, our academic programme is built around the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) curriculum, renowned for its comprehensive, balanced approach to education. The ICSE syllabus emphasizes not only academic achievement but also the development of practical skills, critical thinking, and creativity. This broad-based curriculum ensures that students receive a deep and well-rounded education, preparing them for success in both higher education and life. In the Lower Primary Department (LPD), we incorporate the Montessori Method, focusing on hands on, child centered learning that encourages exploration and independence. A strong phonics programme ensures that students develop essential literacy skills, gaining confidence in reading and writing. As students advance through the Middle School and Upper Primary Department (UPD), they are introduced to more complex subjects and interdisciplinary projects, which foster both collaboration and independent thinking. In the Senior School, the ICSE and ISC curriculum takes center stage, offering students a rigorous yet flexible academic structure. What sets the ICSE and ISC apart is its strong focus on building Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), challenging students to analyze, evaluate, and apply knowledge across various disciplines. The detailed, comprehensive syllabus not only ensures students are well prepared for their Board Examinations but also equips them with the ability to think critically, solve real-world problems, and adapt to new challenges. Through the ICSE and ISC, students at Auckland House School for Boys are prepared not just for academic success, but for a lifetime of learning and growth, making it a curriculum well-suited for students who aspire to excel in diverse fields and pursue higher studies globally.

LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

At Auckland House School for Boys, our learning philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is about more than just academic success—it’s about nurturing the whole child. We aim to develop students who are intellectually curious, emotionally resilient, and socially responsible. By combining the best of traditional and modern educational practices—such as the Montessori Method in the early years and Phenomenon Based Learning (PhBL) in the later years—we create a dynamic and engaging learning environment where each child can thrive. This philosophy is guided by Bloom’s Learning Stages, helping students progress from foundational knowledge to advanced problem solving and creative thinking. At every stage, we emphasize Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), equipping students to think critically and solve real-world problems. By integrating these approaches, we prepare our students not just for exams, but for life. Our Modular Categorisation of Subjects ensures that students build essential skills like reading comprehension, creative writing, critical thinking, and problem solving across all subjects. For example, in Mathematics, students focus on areas like number sense, algebra, and geometry, while in Languages, they hone their skills in reading, writing, and oral communication. We begin in the Lower Primary Department (LPD) with the Montessori Method, encouraging hands-on exploration and independence. Our structured phonics programme strengthens early literacy, building confidence in reading and writing. As students move through Middle School and the Upper Primary Department (UPD), the focus shifts to cross-disciplinary learning and modular categorisation of subjects. This ensures that students not only grasp individual subjects deeply but also understand how they connect with one another, fostering holistic learning. Through a combination of formative assessments (for continuous feedback) and summative assessments (for comprehensive evaluation), we ensure that each student’s academic growth is both measured and nurtured. Phenomenon Based Learning (PhBL) and cross-disciplinary projects take learning to the next level, encouraging students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. This approach not only enhances creativity and collaboration but also prepares students for the challenges of modern life. At Auckland House School for Boys, we reduce the focus on rote memorization, instead fostering curiosity, creativity, and self-directed exploration. Our goal is to develop confident, adaptable learners who can thrive in an everchanging world.
